Our History

Indian Village Elementary School is named for the neighborhood in which it resides. The school offers a peaceful, family-like environment using Project Peace to prevent bullying and discourage student conflict. In 2003, Indian Village was named a Blue Ribbon School, placing it among the top in the country. The school has a partnership with the Anthony Wayne Rotary, whose members provide one-on-one tutoring support for the students and financial support for the school. Each day, students take a Peace Pledge, making a promise to their school, family, neighborhood and community.

Indian Village was built in 1953. The school is a Title I school and offers the English Language Learners (ELL) program for students who are new to the English language. Indian Village students follow a dress code to encourage a focus on academics and eliminate distractions. Indian Village students feed into Kekionga Middle School and South Side High School. The school is located in the Board of School Trustees District 5.
